Blue Cloisonné birds

Hand cut birds from copper sheet are enamelled with a white base. I’ve then used the cloisonné technique to apply the dots.

A metal base, often made of copper or bronze, is prepared for the application of the cloisonné.
Thin metal wires are bent and shaped to form compartments or cells on the surface of the object. These wires are then soldered onto the base, effectively creating small enclosures.
The compartments are filled with colored enamel paste. Each compartment can hold a different color, allowing for detailed and vibrant designs.
The piece is then fired in a kiln, which causes the enamel to melt and fuse with the metal. This process solidifies the colors and adheres them to the base.
After cooling, the surface is polished to achieve a smooth finish, revealing the vivid designs framed by the metal wires.
Each earring measures 2cm long and 3cm wide.

These little birds are accompanied by a 4mm blue web Jasper gemstone bead.

The ear hooks are made from Argentium silver
