Argentium ‘cup’ studs. #3
I like to use any scrap argentium that I acquire when I’m making jewellery.
The technique used to make these little studs is called water casting.
All my scrap pieces of argentium are put into my crucible and heated with my torch until the silver is molten.
While keeping the silver in a molten state by continually heating with the torch , I drop little balls into a bucket of water.
As the silver drops into the water it forms a little ‘cup’. No two cups are the same but the aim is to get two that look similar so I can make a pair of studs.
The final step is to solder on a Stirling silver post and these become the cutest studs you will ever see 🤍🤍
These little cups measure 9mm in diameter
If you would like to see how I make these little studs pop over to my instagram account and watch the process.
